Atlanta Falcons NFL Preview : Atlanta added two big weapons to their offense through the draft in the form of Julio Jones and Jacquizz Rodgers. Jones, who won a National Championship during his successful three years at Alabama, will be a terrific complement to Roddy White. The receiver has the skills to make an impact from day one and boost the Falcons already impressive passing game. Rodgers was a star at Oregon State who lost value in the draft after a rough final season. That made him a bargain in the fifth round and he should offer a solid alternative to Michael Turner.

It’s going to be a challenging start to the season for the Falcons as four of their first five games are against teams with winning records from 2010, while the odd game out is against playoff team Seattle. 2011 kicks off with a visit to Chicago and is followed quickly by match-ups with the Eagles, Bucs, Seahawks, and Packers. The last time Atlanta faced Green Bay, they suffered a miserable beat down in the playoffs. In Week 5 they will welcome the Super Bowl champions to the Georgia Dome and will no doubt be hungry for payback.
It took a coach with a most ordinary name to do the extraordinary and make the Falcons consistent winners. With the tools in place for another big season, there’s no reason to doubt Atlanta’s potential to make the playoffs yet again. The battle for the division will be tough, so much that it could deny Atlanta a shot at the bye in the playoffs. If that’s the worst of the Falcons’ problems, then fans in Atlanta will have plenty to smile about in 2011. :D :D :D
